#Cooking: 4th of July/Independence Day Weekend

 Happy 4th of July!

Celebrating in a classic fashion, this weekend I made up a tasty typical meal for USA's Independence Day. Consisting in some badass burgers, fries, onion rings, hotdogs, salads, ice cream and doughnuts and a California wine, coke and the Bud, the menu I brought together tried to embody the whole international idea of US's multicultural foods.

The main ingredients for the burgers were lettuce, red cabbage, bacon, cheddar cheese and mozzarella, fresh cucumbers and bell peppers, sweet onion, those grill baked beef meatloafs and lots of complementary sauces varying from the simple mayo and ketchup, to barbecue sauce, a sweet chili dip or the classic ranch dressing.

The salad was brought together by a ranch dressing, some olive oil and lime juice, topped with deep fried onion crisps and kohlrabi strips.

The hot dogs were made from the classic franks, boiled then grilled a tad, topped with some of the salad, sauces and crushed onion crisps.

Next to the burgers and fries, I also added some deep fried spicy onion rings, sprinkled with some of that barbecue sauce.

For the dessert, I just preferred a quick chocolate doughnut and a cup of ice cream you can find at Lidl. Mine was the Strawberry Cheesecake type, reminding me of the less common around here - Ben and Jerry's, but you can choose other varieties too, like the cookie dough type, since mostly of their ice-creams I tried were high quality, despite the low price.
